Domaine Frederic Magnien

Morey-Saint-Denis, France

Born in May 1969, in one of the most beautiful wine growing regions in the world, Frédéric Magnien is a 5th generation winemaker from the Magnien family. He studied at the viticultural Lycée (high school) in Beaune, while helping his father in the vineyards and cellars in his spare time.
To gain some experience with other winemakers, he participated in the 1986 wine harvest at Jean-Noël Gagnard’s estate in Chassagne-Montrachet.

He then devoted himself to the Michel Magnien estate in Morey-Saint-Denis working alongside his father from 1987 to 1991.

Keen to expand his knowledge, he left to work abroad in 1992. He started out by spending 4 months in California on Josh Jemsen’s Calera estate, followed by 6 months in Australia with Garry Farr on the Bannockburn Vineyard estate.

Returning home in time for the 1993 harvest, he enrolled at the University of Dijon where he obtained his degree in oenology.
