Clos de La Roche Grand Cru Cuvée George Kritter 2016
156th Hospices De Beaune Wine Auction on the 20th November 2016
Vintage Report
The harvest was relatively late this year, so the wines have been tasted very soon after being racked out of their fermenting tanks into barrel. Nonetheless they are already showing their character. The wines capture the elegance of the vintage, coming after the more massive 2015s, and show a fine sense of their terroirs.
Brilliant dense rich purple, a wine exuding nobility. Ludivine Griveau adores the weight of this wine. Indeed, the grand cru quality stands out, though the detail of the fruit will need time to emerge. Already though it boasts a very satisfactory finish with darker fruit and a touch of liquorice. This is a wine which will need to be kept for a decade and will then last for at least another 10 years.
