Volnay Santenots 1er Cru Cuvee Jehan de Massol 2017 Magnum
157th Hospices De Beaune Wine Auction on the 19th November 2017.
2017 Vintage report
Pinot Noir flowering takes place in perfect conditions in a few sunny days. A classic Burgundian summer, with some very hot days at the end of June and July. In September for the Côte de Beaune vineyards. Pinot Noir start to be harvested on the 2d of September for Côte de Beaune, then Côte de Nuits Vineyard. Last grapes are brought in at the winery on the 21st of September.
Another very good colour while the nose seems a touch more sombre at first, because this is even more backward than Cuvee Gauvain. But do not worry. On the palate it has a little more body, while again offering a lovely balance between red fruit and darker notes, a little more in reserve here, though not as immediately pretty. The finish is strikingly persistent and very classy.
