Corton Clos des Meix Grand Cru Monopole 2005
A discreet but beautifully complex nose with real aromatic breadth offers red pinot, dark berry and that lovely violet note that young Corton often displays marries with big, robust, even massive broad-shouldered flavors that are concentrated, serious and unapologetically given over to the sauvage on the beautifully long finish. This is a big bad boy that cares nothing for finesse or elegance and while 10 years will see it in a more civilized state, it will probably need 20 to really deliver fully on its promise.
