Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru 2011
An overtly sauvage and gamey nose adds notes of spice, smoke, dark berries and plenty of earth character for good measure. There is excellent volume to the broad-shouldered flavors that are bigger, more robust and more powerful than those of the Bressandes though with the same intense minerality that adds a sense of lift to the already vibrant, austere and backwards finish. In the same vein as the Bressandes, this is clearly meant to age and will need plenty of it.
